ROCKEFELLER ANNOUNCES $150,500 GRANT TO RENOVATE CITY PARK POOL IN PARKERSBURG

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) announced today that the National Park Service has awarded the city of Parkersburg a $150,500 grant for renovations to the city park pool. The grant, funded through the Urban Park and Recreation Recovery program, will be used to put in a new filtration system and concrete decking.

"As we have learned with this most recent heat wave, public pools are an important asset for any community," Rockefeller said. "Unfortunately, many times costly renovations are put off because the financial burden falls on local governments. Having federal grant programs available eases that burden and allows local governments to focus on the renovations needed for their public pools and parks."

The Urban Park and Recreation Recovery program was established in 1978 to provide funding to help assist urban areas in renovating recreation facilities.
