ROCKEFELLER ANNOUNCES NEW DAILY ROUND-TRIP FLIGHT FROM ATLANTA TO CHARLESTON

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) announced today that the Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) will soon offer one additional daily round-trip flight between Atlanta, Georgia and Charleston, West Virginia. The new service will be available on June 1, 2001.

"Another flight to the largest single-airline hub in the world, Atlanta, is exactly what we need to increase travel and commerce in West Virginia," Rockefeller said. "I am pleased that Atlantic Southeast Airlines recognized that increased service in West Virginia is good for their business and good for our community."

In addition to the Charleston flight, ASA will be offering new flights to Augusta, Georgia and Evansville, Indiana. The new service will offer a total of seven daily flights to Atlanta from both Charleston and Evansville and ten daily flights to Atlanta from Augusta. With increased access to Atlanta, West Virginia will have greater access to many businesses and flight options including more than 900 Delta and Delta Connection flights every day to 174 domestic and international destinations.

ASA carried more than 6 million passengers during 2000, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines operating more than 650 flights a day to nearly 80 airports across half of the United States, Canada and Mexico.
